President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today 4th October 2025, joined a host of prominent Nigerians in Jos for the final farewell of Nana Lydia Toma Yilwatda, beloved mother of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, whose burial service was held at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters.
The octogenarian, who passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 83, was celebrated for her devotion, humility, and strong Christian values. Her life of faith and quiet service drew tributes from the nation’s top political and religious figures, including the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, several state governors, ministers, and members of the National Assembly, who came to honour her memory.
Leading the Benue delegation was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and APC leader in Benue and the North Central, Sen. Dr. George Akume, accompanied by the Benue APC Chairman, Dr. Austin Agada, who joined the President and other dignitaries to bid farewell to the matriarch. Their presence reflected the deep bond between the national leadership and the Benue chapter of the ruling party.
On the sidelines of the event, Akume, Agada and Dr Mathias Byuan addressed members of the Benue community in Jos, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
They emphasized unity, loyalty, and the need for all Nigerians to sustain the spirit of faith and resilience exemplified by Mama Lydia throughout her life.
