The Accountability and Development Advocates (ADA) have commended Senator Abba Moro for embodying the qualities of a refined, modern-day Nigerian politician whose style of politics has set him apart from the crude, violent, and divisive methods of the past. In a political culture where bitterness, intimidation, and thuggery once dominated, Moro has offered a refreshing model anchored on civility, unity, and service.
Unlike many politicians who thrive on rancour, Moro approaches issues with calmness and respect. His politics is devoid of abuse and unnecessary confrontation, relying instead on reasoned engagement and dialogue.
This uncommon sense of decorum has not only lowered the temperature of political contests in Benue South but has also brought dignity back to a space where decency once seemed lost. It is this style that ADA believes must be celebrated and emulated as Nigeria moves toward 2027.
Moro has equally proven himself a true bridge-builder. In a district marked by diverse interests and sometimes tense divisions, he has stood firm as a unifier who treats all shades of opinion with fairness. By fostering dialogue across ethnic, religious, and partisan lines, he has lived up to the constitutional obligation of leaders not to discriminate by place of origin, sex, religion, or status. For ADA, this is a rare gift in Nigeria’s present climate of suspicion and mistrust.
The advocacy group further recalled the words of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, who in 2016 lamented the rise of political thuggery and violence that had become alien to the Idoma culture, fueling insecurity in the land. ADA notes with satisfaction that under Senator Moro’s leadership, such practices have significantly declined, paving the way for greater political harmony in the district. In their view, this is proof that politics without violence is not only possible but also desirable, and Moro’s example should serve as a blueprint for others.
Beyond his home base, Senator Moro has brought his senatorial district to the national stage. His voice has been consistent in national discourse, whether on governance reforms, security, or economic issues, ensuring that the concerns of his people are not left behind.
His behind-the-scenes efforts in the ongoing conversations around state creation, particularly the proposals rumoured to include the aspirations of his people, further highlight his quiet but effective influence. Remarkably, he does not make noise about these efforts, reflecting his belief that service should speak louder than self-promotion.
ADA equally commends Moro’s parliamentary conduct, noting his discipline, integrity, and consistency in the Senate. He has played his role with thoughtfulness, contributing to lawmaking, oversight, and representation with a focus on the collective good. His advocacy for a transparent and functional Nigeria aligns with the ideals of economic cooperation, social justice, and the eradication of corruption. By standing firmly for democratic values, inclusiveness, and tolerance, Moro has become a shining example of leadership grounded in principle rather than expediency.
