Allied Conservative Congress Emerges with Vision for Change
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, a new political movement, the Allied Conservative Congress (ACC), officially launched in Abuja, pledging to address Nigeria’s challenges and unseat the current government. Speaking at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, the ACC National Secretary, outlined the group’s conservative vision aimed at revitalizing governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Lawal, the ACC seeks to provide a fresh alternative by restoring national security, economic prosperity, and equity through conservative principles.
Advocating for Change
Members of the movement criticized current governance, describing it as riddled with confusion, insecurity, and poverty, leading to a strong desire for change among Nigerians. They positioned the ACC as a response to the perceived failures of the current political landscape, emphasizing a return to First Republic values, including patriotism, morality, and the rule of law.
Judicial Reforms and Public Trust
Expressing concerns over eroding trust in the judiciary, the ACC called for an overhaul to restore justice and strengthen democratic principles. Lawal lamented the frequent miscarriages of justice, asserting that judicial reforms are essential to rekindle citizens’ faith in Nigeria’s legal system.
A Fresh Vision for Nigeria
Highlighting the ACC’s mission, Lawal stated:
“The Allied Conservative Congress was born out of Nigerians’ quest for genuine democracy, good governance, the rule of law, national security, and economic prosperity. The state of the nation is dire, with patriotism lacking among leaders and citizens. ACC is on a rescue mission to save Nigeria from self-serving politicians masquerading as democrats.”
He criticized established parties like the APC and LP, stating that they offer no new solutions. The ACC, he promised, would bring fresh ideas and true patriotism while addressing the economic and security challenges plaguing the country.
Registration and Commitment
The ACC has garnered support across political affiliations and is pushing for formal registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During the meeting, the NEC members signed the Code of Conduct and Oath of Allegiance, demonstrating their loyalty and dedication to the movement’s goals.
