Agada Caps 2025 with Community Outreach, Education Projects, Youth Sports and Party Engagements Across Benue
The closing days of 2025 witnessed an intense round of community, political and social engagements by the Benue State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Board Chairman of the National Agricultural Seed Council (NASC), Dr. Austin Agada, as he rounded off the year with far-reaching interventions across Ogbadibo Local Government Area, Zone C and other parts of the state.
The activities, which spanned Christmas Eve through the New Year, reflected a blend of humanitarian outreach, education support, youth development, party consolidation and strategic political engagement.
On December 24 (Christmas Eve), Agada commenced the season in Nyiman, Makurdi, where he distributed cows and bags of rice to residents, easing the burden of the festive period. Later that night, he joined elderly members of the Owukpa community and party faithful for a watch-night fellowship, a gathering that emphasised gratitude for the sacrifices of elders and the responsibility of leadership to remain rooted in service.
The following day, December 25, attention shifted to children and education, as Agada celebrated Christmas with young people and awarded scholarships to deserving pupils, reinforcing his long-standing advocacy for education as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
On December 26, he rolled out broader welfare interventions, facilitating over ₦10 million in cash support alongside the distribution of rice, wrappers and cows to widows and party faithful across the nine local government areas of Benue South Senatorial District (Zone C). The gesture, according to beneficiaries, offered timely relief and strengthened the bond between leadership and the grassroots.
Political and national engagements followed on December 27, when Agada travelled to Gboko to join family members, associates and well-wishers in celebrating the 72nd birthday of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume. The event served as a platform to honour Akume’s enduring influence, mentorship and contributions to national development.
On December 28, Agada was again in Makurdi for the wedding ceremony of Aondoakura Akume, son of the SGF. The occasion also brought together top political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, whose forthright leadership style was acknowledged, alongside the recognition of Senator Akume as a leading political figure in Benue State and the wider North Central region.
Party consolidation took centre stage on December 29, as Agada held extensive meetings with party leaders and faithful at different levels, aimed at strengthening unity, reinforcing shared values and sustaining internal cohesion within the APC.
A major highlight came on December 31 in Ejile, Ehaje Ward 2 of Ogbadibo Local Government Area, where Agada commissioned a block of classrooms and offices. The project, facilitated through the support of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibril Barau, and delivered via the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation following appeals from the community, drew an emotional reception from residents. Later that evening, he extended financial support to church projects during the crossover service at Living Faith Church, Ukwo.
The momentum continued into the New Year. On January 1, Agada hosted a football competition for youths across the zone, a move aimed at talent discovery, youth engagement and fostering aspirations for professional and international sporting careers.
That same day, he commissioned another block of classrooms at Ai-chakwu Ai-Odu, Ehaje Ward 1, responding to concerns over declining educational infrastructure in the state. He also visited his maternal family, where cash gifts and food items, including rice, were shared in keeping with New Year traditions of family support and communal bonding.
Observers say the series of engagements underscored a leadership style anchored on accessibility, responsiveness and people-centred development. They also described Agada’s interventions as a reminder that public office carries both privilege and responsibility.
As the state looks ahead to a new year, the initiatives have drawn commendation from party members and community leaders, with calls for other leaders similarly elevated by providence to emulate a model of leadership that combines gratitude with tangible service to the people.
