The North Central leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to unregistered and unauthorized groups using the party’s name to launch attacks on its leaders, particularly Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
At a crucial meeting held in Abuja on Friday, February 7, 2025, the APC North Central leadership strongly condemned the recent media assaults against Akume, describing them as baseless, unwarranted, and the handiwork of political mischief-makers.
In a statement jointly signed by Hon. Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, National Vice Chairman (North Central), and Hon. Yakubu Adamu, Zonal Secretary (North Central), the party leadership made it clear that such attacks would no longer be tolerated.
“We make bold to say that these groups are not only unrecognized but are mere usurpers and interlopers. The leadership of the party in the zone passes a vote of confidence on our leaders, particularly Distinguished Senator George Akume, whose contributions to the growth of the party and the nation are undeniable.”
The statement further reiterated that the zonal APC leadership, as recognized by the National Working Committee (NWC), remains the only authorized body to speak on the party’s affairs in the region. It warned all unauthorized groups to desist from maligning party leaders, stating that failure to do so would invite legal consequences.
“We are warning these groups to immediately stop using the name of the North Central APC to insult and attack our leaders. Failure to comply will attract the full weight of the law.”
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and called on all members to remain steadfast in upholding the values of the APC.
With this strong stance, the North Central APC has drawn a clear line, signaling zero tolerance for internal sabotage and reckless defamation of its leaders.
